About IWC Schaffhausen
IWC was founded in 1868 by an American watchmaker who set up in Schaffhausen to combine Swiss craft with American industrial methods and cheap hydropower from the Rhine. Its pilot watches and the Portugieser are its best-known lines. Richemont acquired it in 2000 as part of the purchase that also brought Jaeger-LeCoultre and A. Lange & Söhne into the group.
