Fendi was founded in Rome in 1925 as a fur and leather workshop by a married couple, and was run by their five daughters from the 1940s. Karl Lagerfeld designed for the house from 1965 until his death in 2019, the longest such tenure in fashion. LVMH acquired control in 2001.
