Dunkin' is owned by Inspire Brands (the United States), which acquired the brand on 15 December 2020 from Dunkin' Brands.[1][1] Before Inspire Brands, Dunkin' was owned by Dunkin' Brands from 2004 to 2020.[1]
This ownership is reported in official statements but has not yet been matched to a regulatory filing.
Dunkin' opened in Massachusetts in 1950 selling doughnuts and coffee to factory workers, and dropped Donuts from its name in 2019 to signal that most of its revenue now comes from drinks. Inspire Brands acquired it in 2020.
Inspire Brands acquired Dunkin' Brands for $106.50 per share in cash, taking the company private and adding Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins to a portfolio it had assembled in under three years. It was one of the largest restaurant transactions ever completed.
