United States Department of Justice, Antitrust Division: how it reviews brand acquisitions
The Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice reviews the mergers allocated to it under its clearance arrangement with the FTC, including beer, spirits and agriculture. It resolves cases by closing the investigation, filing a complaint together with a proposed consent decree requiring divestitures, or suing to block the transaction outright.
