Microsoft completed the acquisition of GitHub on 26 October 2018 for $7.5 billion.[1]

Microsoft acquired GitHub for $7.5 billion in stock. The European Commission cleared the deal unconditionally in October 2018, finding no risk that the buyer would degrade the platform for rival developer tools.
